Polythene UK is delighted to announce that James Woollard MD, was awarded ‘Highly Commended’ as runner-up in the UK final of the IoD Young Director of the Year Award 2010.
The award was presented at a prestigious ceremony held at the Lancaster Hotel, London by Alan Sugar. The Young Director category is given in recognition and celebration of outstanding young talent within UK business. James, who initially won the regional IoD New Business Director category to qualify as a finalist said, “This award is recognition of the tremendous achievement by the whole team at Polythene UK. The business has grown from £250K to £5.4 million turnover in just three years, despite the biggest recession this country’s seen in the last 20 years. The success of Polythene UK is definitely down to excellent teamwork – inspired by enthusiastic leadership and supported by great customers.”
An IoD spokesman commented “The IoD Director of the Year Awards celebrate the very best in UK business. Many businesses have suffered at the hands of the recession, so it is now more important than ever to recognise their achievements”. James has already been asked to take part in next year’s awards – as a member of the judging panel.
Additionally, David Cameron’s office has confirmed that the PM will be visiting Polythene UK to meet the team in the near future in order to offer his further encouragement and support.
