Conservative Party leader David Cameron has congratulated an Oxfordshire packaging supplier for landing an entrepreneur award.
James Woollard, managing director of Polythene UK that is based in Cameron’s Witney constituency, won the Shaw Gibbs Award on the back of doubling turnover in its two-year existence.
Cameron said: “To achieve growth like this in a recession is truly impressive. Polythene UK is to be congratulated on this achievement which they obviously richly deserve.”
James Woollard said the firm had even reported an increase in net profits in its second year despite turnover remaining relatively constant since the beginning of the recession. “The signs are good that repeat orders are coming back.”
He added that winning the award had been a huge boost to the company. “My team work hard and anything like this is something we can all be proud of at Polythene UK.”
Polythene UK brokers a range of high strength films including its three and five layer laminated Poly-Lite film that offers outstanding strength at lower gauges. The applications include shrink-pallet covers, collations shrink film and polythene bags.
Polythene UK was set up in 2007 and the majority of the 12-strong team have a background working for polythene film manufacturers.
