Oxford United Women, Sponsored By Poly UK, Attend Launch Of Women’s Super League
The WSL Super League launched on Wednesday at BT Sport Studios in Stratford. The launch coincides with Oxford United Women’s first home game against London Bees, on Monday 14th April at Abingdon United FC. This is the first WSL match of the season.
Along with the other 17 teams in the WSL, OUW’s Manager, Les Taylor, Captain Sahara Osborne-Ricketts and Katharine Nutman were also joined by presenter Helen Skelton.
This year is the first time that there will be a second division; FA WSL 2, with 10 new clubs including Oxford United. All 18 FA WSL clubs will compete in the expanded FA WSL Continental Cup, which begins on the 30th April.
BT Sport will be showing all 14 games live throughout the season, including the Continental Cup final, along with 17 WSL shows which will air on Tuesdays at 6pm. BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra will offer live commentary throughout the 2014 FA WSL season, while the Women’s Football Show will air throughout the season on BBC Three.
Simon Green, head of BT Sport, said:
“Football is one of the fastest growing sports for women in the UK and this season is an exciting time for BT Sport as the exclusive live broadcaster of the WSL.
“We want to raise the profile of the league and the women who play within it. We’ll be following them as they prepare for games, we want to be on the team bus, we want to be pitch-side, bringing you all the stories and excitement of the WSL.”
We wish Oxford United Women the best of luck throughout this Football season, and can’t wait to see them on the pitch!
