It has always been the main intention at Polythene UK to do all in our power to improve the impact that the polythene industry has on our environment. We are committed to taking a responsible approach both to the requirements of industry and to the environmental issues facing today’s society. As a result we have won a number of awards for our work in improving the polythene industry.
FINALIST: Oxfordshire Business Awards 2022 - Shaw Gibbs Business Person of the Year
The Oxfordshire Business Awards have recognised James Woollard, MD of Polythene UK as a finalist for the business person of the year. The announcement was made at the OXBA event - "A Celebration of Oxfordshire Business Awards Dinner" hosted at The John Henry Brookes Building at Oxford Brookes.

The Oxfordshire Business Awards have recognised Polythene UK as a finalist for The Natwest Large Business Award. The announcement was made at the OXBA event - "A Celebration of Oxfordshire Business Awards Dinner" hosted at The John Henry Brookes Building at Oxford Brookes.

The West Oxfordshire Business Awards (WOBA) have recognised James Woollard, MD of Polythene UK as the winner of the business person of the year. The announcement was announced virtually over the pandemic
FINALIST: The Ridgeway Large Business Award (WOBA)
Organisers of the West Oxfordshire Business Awards (WOBA) 2015 have revealed Polythene UK is a Finalist in the The Ridgeway Large Business Award.
The announcement was made at the WOBA Celebration of Business event hosted by Abbott Diabetes Care in Witney, attended by over 200 business representatives from West Oxfordshire.
WINNER: Director of the Year – Chairman’s Award for Corporate Social Responsibility
James Woollard, MD of Polythene UK, was announced as the 2014 winner of the IOD Director of the Year – Chairman’s Award for Corporate Social Responsibility.
Over 200 finalists and guests attended the Gala Awards Dinner held in the impressive Nash Room at the Institute of Directors in Pall Mall, London.
James and the team are delighted that Polythene UK is being recognised for its excellent CSR credentials.
Thames Valley SME 100 Company
Top SMEs from across the Thames Valley are listed in the 2013/14 Thames Valley SME 100 List. The SME 100, now in its third year, is supported by Santander bank; Haines Watts chartered accountants and business advisers; VitalSix, the business experts who support business growth; and Thames Valley law firm Field Seymour Parkes.
Ranked by sales, the SME 100 includes only private independent businesses. Polythene UK is proud to feature in the Thames Valley SME 100 list.
WINNER: The Oxfordshire County Council Energy & Environment Award
The Awards, which were presented at a prestigious black tie dinner at the Oxford Thames Four Pillars Hotel on 21 June 2013, have become recognised by many as a spotlight for entrepreneurial excellence. They are designed to bring together Oxfordshire’s most dynamic and innovative businesses.
James Woollard, Managing Director of Polythene UK, explains: “We were over the moon at simply being in the shortlist for the Oxfordshire County Council Energy & Environment Award, to then go on and win the award was tremendous.”
WINNER: Oxfordshire Business Awards – Darbys New Business Award
Managing Director James Woollard booked two tables as he wanted to include the Polythene UK staff in order to thank them for all their hard work over the last few years. A hush fell over the room as the awards presentation started, and the Polythene UK tables erupted when it was announced that we had won the Blue by Darbys New Business award.
James said: “I think entering these awards is important for us all, it is a fantastic feeling to gain public recognition for all of our hard work. It was great that we were all there to receive the New Business Award, as our success is down to the whole team.”
We also finished runner-up in the other two categories we were nominated for:

FINALIST: UK Packaging Awards – SME of the Year
Polythene UK was shortlisted as an award finalist for the UK Packaging Awards 2010, in the category of ‘SME of the Year’. This award recognises outstanding financial and business performance.
WINNER: IoD Awards – New Business Director of the Year
The prize of New Business Director of the Year for London and the South East was presented by Emma Crosby of GMTV fame at a prestigious awards ceremony held at The Landmark Hotel in London on 23 March, 2010.
Ex-jewellery magnate Gerald Ratner was also in attendance, so it’s good to know that he has learnt to recognise a company that delivers great quality products when he sees them!
WINNER: Oxfordshire Business Awards – Shaw Gibbs Young Entrepreneur of the Year
Polythene UK Managing Director James Woollard won the 2009 Shaw Gibbs Award for his success in doubling the company’s turnover in its two-year existence.
David Cameron said: “To achieve growth like this in a recession is truly impressive. Polythene UK is to be congratulated on this achievement which they obviously richly deserve.”
James Woollard said the firm had even reported an increase in net profits in its second year despite turnover remaining relatively constant since the beginning of the recession. “The signs are good that repeat orders are coming back.”
He added that winning the award had been a huge boost to the company. “My team work hard and anything like this is something we can all be proud of at Polythene UK.”
