Passionate About Polythene
An unusual claim, perhaps, but one that’s very much at the heart of Polythene UK, and fuels the company’s drive for success.
Managing Director James Woollard has worked in the polythene industry since the mid 1990s; he can say it’s been his lifeblood for nearly 20 years. From 2003 to 2007 he was UK Sales Manager for the innovative French polythene manufacturer Groupe Barbier. It was during his time working for this forward-thinking, environmentally friendly company that he developed the concept for Polythene UK.
Established in 2007 in Witney, Oxfordshire, Polythene UK quickly made its name as the UK’s leading independent supplier of polythene products. In early 2013, the company moved to new premises specifically designed to be carbon neutral and equipped with a high-tech renewable energy system. We were delighted that David Cameron officially opened our building in May 2013.
With a green heart running through Polythene UK, we have won several awards over the last few years for our products and innovative eco credentials. In 2009, we were awarded Director of the Year for London and the South East. Since then we can be seen as regular contenders at the UK Packaging Awards and took home a trophy in 2013 at the Oxfordshire Business Awards.
We challenge companies to live by their own environmental standards and to push their Corporate and Social Responsibility a step further. We also believe in training the next generation of young people to carry on our sustainable business policies: Polythene UK has a well-established apprenticeship scheme with places open for application every year.
